Chapter 38. The Note (1)

Anna was curious, but at the same time, she was also nervous. She feared that it could be someone dangerous who had slid the paper but she also knew that she was not going to pretend not to see it. 

She stood for a few seconds before finally giving in and closing her distance between the door and her. When she reached it, she reached down on the floor and picked up the paper. 

It was indeed perfectly folded as she had noticed from afar. She peeled her eyes from the paper for a quick second and glanced at the door before looking back. She then made her way to her bedroom and gently closed and locked her door. 

Once in, she headed for the bed and sat on it. Her heart was thumping in her chest as she stared at the note. Then she finally opened it and on it was perfect cursive. She was not good at reading cursive but when it was written this well, she could with ease. 

“Quit your job or you die.” The words looked so beautifully written but they meant
