Chapter 57. Coffee and Revelations

Carly’s expression turned unreadable as she drummed her fingers lightly against the side of her cup. She exhaled slowly, her eyes darting toward the other customers in the cafe as if she were weighing whether or not to say anything. 

But Anna could see that the girl knew something. It was written all over her face and body language. 

“Alright,” She finally said, leaning forward slightly. “But I need you to understand that I don’t know everything. I only know bits and pieces—things I have overheard, things Liam has let slip.” 

Anna nodded, urging her to continue. “That’s fine with me. I just need to know something.” 

Carly sighed. “Well, Liam’s company…it’s not just a tech firm or a finance company or whatever the hell people assume it is. At least that’s what I know. It’s a front, Anna.” 

“A front?” Anna’s stomach twisted. 

Carly nodded. “For something much bigger. And much, much darker.”
