Anna’s stomach twisted at the words. His girl. If only he knew the truth. She was only doing all of this because she needed to bring him down so she could finally go back to living a boring and ordinary life.
She was tired of the drama…of it all. She was ready for boredom more than anything else. She missed it.
But now, even her time alone, her thoughts would torture her.
The man reached into his jacket and pulled out a sleek black envelope, placing it on the nightstand. “Inside is everything you need. Name, location, and a little incentive to get the job done.”
Anna stared at the envelope like it was a snake waiting to strike. “And if I refuse?” she asked, testing him.
Victor’s smirk didn’t waver, but something in his expression darkened. “You won’t. You’re a smart girl, Anna.”
