As the car pulled up to the university, Anna took a deep breath, forcing herself to push away the choking weight of her reality. 

She had to act normal. Pretend everything was fine. She had to pretend like she was like the others. Like she had an ordinary life.

The campus was alive with students bustling about, chatting in groups, laughing, living their ordinary lives. The sight made her ache with longing.
