Chapter 50. Evidence
As they continued eating, the atmosphere grew tense with the anticipation of their next move. Mr. Hall saw the look on his wife’s face and looked at Kevin.
“Are we absolutely sure this is the right time? We can’t afford any mistakes.”
Kevin nodded confidently. “I’ve double-checked everything. The evidence is solid, and the timing is perfect. We can’t wait any longer.”
Anna picked at her food, her thoughts drifting back to Carlos. Something still didn’t sit right with her, but she pushed the feeling aside. They had bigger things to worry about.
She needed to focus, there were bigger things to weepy about.
Just as they were finishing their meal, Aunt Linda’s phone rang. She glanced at the caller ID and frowned.
“It’s the local sheriff. Everyone stay quiet,” she whispered, answering the call.
“Hello, Sheriff. What can I do for you?” Aunt Linda’s voice was calm, but her eyes betrayed her anxiety.
