Chapter 52. The Safe House
Hearing the words of the detective was both reassuring and nerve-wracking. Anna never thought that her whole life was going to change in just a few weeks.
It all had just happened in a blink of an eye. The house that they had grown up in had so many memories in, had been ruined.
She and her brother had a contract with the devil, and now they were literally about to be placed in witness protection.
And if they were going to be placed in that, it simply meant that the Marinos were going to be arrested very soon.
Maybe after the arrest, everything was going to be okay. Maybe after the arrest, they would be able to return back to their lives.
As they left the police station and headed back to their temporary home to gather their belongings, Anna couldn’t shake the feeling of unease.
It was this heaviness and pulling at the pit of her stomach that kept telling her that something might go terribly wrong.
But she decided to push it aside and focus
