Chapter 51. Gotta Fix This

Carlos was wearing his shirt; it was a few minutes past four, and he had just done fifty pushups. He was feeling energetic, and his mind was clear.

He had plans to go into town and get some groceries and a few other things he might need before coming back to the cabin.

But then his phone buzzed. He picked it up from the dresser. He was now fully dressed. He had worn something casual.

“Hello?” he said when he answered the call.

“Carlos, would you like to tell me what the f*ck just happened?” Vito exclaimed, his voice tinged with urgency and anger.

Carlos furrowed his brows in confusion. He had no idea what his father was talking about. He was oblivious to what was going on that the guy was so mad about.

“I… I don’t know what you’re talking about,” he confessed.

“That’s what you’re going with? That’s the lie you’re going with? I told you to keep an eye on them. I told you to keep a f*cking eye on them!”

Carlos immediately knew what he wa
