Chapter 14. As a Family

Cassandra’s POV

The moment we were outside, Avery grabbed my hand and pulled me backward. “Here, keep this, Cass,” she said, pushing a tube into my hand, surprising me beyond words. What sort of game was she up to now?

“What’s this?” I asked confusedly, as Julian laughed.

“It’s called a Concealer for concealing marks. You need it, honey,” she said with a knowing look as I blushed like a tomato and glared at Julian. Inspecting the tube, I wanted to squirt the product right onto her face.

“Ha ha, very funny,” I grumbled at the two of them.

“That stick will finish in a week, Avery. You can keep it. I will buy her a year’s supply,” Julian said as he winked at us and opened the car door for me. He deposited Max on the car seat at the back of his white BMW.

Avery laughed heartily and waved at all of us, and gave me a bear hug.

“I like him, girl,” she winked before going inside. Julian loaded Max’s bags and, after helping me, climbed in and started
