"Uncle here was just asking me some things, Emma. Nothing important," she dismissed.
"Nothing import…" Bernard asked incredulously as he moved toward her.
"And that is our cue to leave!" Tomiwa said brightly, holding onto Bernard, "I will call you; should I drop you at home?" She asked, knowing she would reject the offer.
"No, it is fine. I would be alright," Marissa replied.
"Okay, then at least let me call a cab for you to come pick you up. It wouldn't do for you to be standing at a bus stop to hail a ride home in your state," she said, then stopped her when Marissa wanted to say something "No, I wouldn't take no for an answer; let me at least do this," she says, taking out her phone to order the cab.
"Thank you for everything; I am so grateful to you," Marissa said.
"And to my brother?" Tomiwa said slyly:
