Chapter 81
We rushed through the entrance of the pyramid, Nefertiti leading the way. The air turned heavy and musty as we ventured deeper into the labyrinthine corridors.
Suddenly, as if triggered by an unseen force, the heavy stone door slammed shut behind us. Panic seized my chest, and I pounded my fists against the unforgiving surface.
“Nefertiti, what have you led us into?” I exclaimed, my voice laced with desperation.
She turned to face us, her eyes scanning the room. “A trap,” she admitted, her tone heavy with remorse.
I clenched my jaw, the reality of our predicament sinking in. Seta and Hopi exchanged worried glances, their brows furrowed in deep concentration.
“We can’t stay here,” Hopi urged, his voice strained. “The room is filling with sand.”
My heart raced as I surveyed our surroundings. The sand, like a relentless tide, began to creep up the walls, inching closer to our feet with every passing moment. We were running out of time.
