Chapter 8. Her Fake Fiancé
Claire followed a smug-looking Chris out of her apartment. However, with the door to Nate’s apartment being left wide open, she could see the two of them sitting on the sofa with the largest whiskey glasses on earth right in front of them. Claire inwardly rolled her eyes. If they drank one glass, they would be too inebriated and out in no time. She was acutely aware of their jealous glances as she passed by.
“Hurry up, Claire,” said Chris, then glancing at the two monkeys sitting green with jealousy, he smirked at her forcefully. “Babe, we’ll be late for our dinner date!” he added. Claire choked on her spit but didn’t say a word.
Once downstairs, Claire turned towards him. “Chris, I want my payment. It’s been nearly a month since this drama. Have your parents given you the reins to their business?” asked Claire eagerly.
“Not yet. I’m afraid that we will have to continue this a little longer,” said Chris, unlocking his car and opening the passenger seat for her.
