Chapter 9. Why Did You Sleep with Me?

Claire walked into his apartment and closed the door after her. She looked at him with concern. Had he been drinking for so long? “Nate, you shouldn’t be drinking so much,” she scolded him, walking towards him. He gazed at her with a deep sadness in his eyes.

“Why do you care? Anyway, I didn’t think you’d return home tonight,” he shrugged, opening his bottle for a sip. Claire took the bottle from his hands. 

“No more, Nate. And why did you think I wouldn’t be returning home? How absurd!” exclaimed Claire. “If you weren’t expecting me, then why were you waiting for me?” asked a puzzled Claire. 

“I just hoped you would fight with your boyfriend and come home. I would wait the entire night for you,” he said, laying his head on the floor and looking up at her. Claire felt her heart skip a beat at his words.
