She was still on him, like a snake; she slithered herself into Killian’s form. My heart shattered. I felt betrayed—I felt like a fool. He did have another woman; it was clear to me now. Why else would she be here, looking at him like that?

I instinctively took a step back. Andrew looked at me, and I could see the pity in his eyes, confirming what I had just found out. Killian was with the blonde.

He made me feel completely hollow. In front of me stood my mate, the only one whom the Goddess herself had deemed worthy to be with me. The only one I was meant to share eternity with.

My wolf let out an indignant growl. I felt rage flood through me. How dare he betray me like this, use me like this? Did he find it amusing to bring me all the way here just to prove that I wasn’t enough for him, like I could be discarded at any moment?
