The Seelie didn’t allow foreigners into their territory—no shifters or humanoids, apart from elves, had unlimited access to the Seelie Kingdom. The Seelie had strict rules when it came to outsiders. Foreigners who wanted to be in the Seelie lands needed parchments—documents handed out by the Seelie royal court as proof. Will and I had none, though I doubted we’d need one. Will was an elf; it wouldn’t be a problem, right?
Our presence in the market had attracted a few of the royal guards. Will had been arguing with a fisherman regarding the cost of the oysters he wanted to purchase. I just stood by and watched, leaving the man to his own business.
“Parchments,” a light voice said. Both Will and I turned around at the same time to see five royal guards staring at us. I instinctively pulled my hood closer to my forehead while Will let out a laugh.
