Chapter 32. Evidence
Kevin POV
Alpha Boyle was correct; the Obsidian Pack house is empty. With all of the scents mingling in the air from the outsiders, no one notices when I slip inside. I try to keep my emotions in check as I slip up the stairs.
“Pretend like you belong,” I mumble to myself.
I have the schematics of the pack house committed to memory. I know exactly where I am supposed to go and how I am supposed to escape. I just don’t know how I will face Elara when I see her. She is likely to freak out and alert everyone that I am here. I will have to find a way to silence her.
I slink down the hallway in the shadows and stand before the door that is supposed to be Elara’s. My hand twists the doorknob, and it opens easily. Opening the door just enough to slide in, I am met with a dark room. Elara is not here.
I am filled with relief and disappointment. I wanted to see her again. I wanted to touch her again. But I guess that is not in the cards for me tonight.
