Chapter 67. I’m Here

Zeus POV

I retrace my steps through the forbidden forest like they are a dream. I have been here before, but the memory is hazy like someone tried to take an eraser to my mind. I am not meant to remember this place; that much is clear.

The last time I trekked through the forest, I had Elara’s scent to guide me. Now I only have a blinking dot on my phone screen, but even that seems to be leading me in circles.

I hold my phone above my head, trying to catch a signal, but it is a dead zone. I should have known that the Imperial Pack would not be as easy to find as I expected. I drop my hand to my side and let out a growl of frustration, and as if on cue, a small light appears near the ground.

It resembles a tiny blue flame dancing in the darkness of the trees. Instantly, I know it will lead me to Elara.
