Chapter 68. Can’t Resist Him

Elara POV

I could feel his presence as soon as he stepped into the forbidden forest, and my mind was at war with itself. On one hand, I wanted him to find me and hold me in his arms. On the other hand, I didn’t think I could bear the heartbreak when he inevitably left again.

I considered hiding in my room and refusing to see him, but as soon as his scent wafted through my door, I knew I could not resist him.

Now, I am in his arms, mumbling apologies and ugly crying. Zeus doesn’t seem mad or frustrated with me. Instead, he holds me close and strokes my hair. I lean into his touch and let the tingles of the mate bond calm the storm that is raging inside m

When I finally calm down, Zeus pulls away from me and wipes my tear stained cheeks. “The others wanted to come...”

“You don’t have to lie to me,” I whimper as the pain of rejection spreads through my chest. “What I have done is unforgivable, and it wasn’t even necessary.”

“What do you mean?”
