Book 2: Chapter 10
Martina braced herself, each second stretching into an eternity. She waited for the deafening sound of the gunshot, for the horror to end, but it never came. Instead, she heard a voice.
"Wait."
Martina's eyes snapped open. Ares had his hand raised, signaling Antonio to stop. Antonio lowered the gun slightly, confusion crossing his face.
Ares turned his icy gaze to Martina. "I change my mind," he said slowly.
"T-Thank you, Sir," the boy stuttered losing his head, his body trembling from shock.
"But we will play another game," Ares continued.
Martina's heart pounded. She couldn't understand what Ares was planning. She concluded that he was a sick bastard, wasn't it enough torture to put her under such pressure now he wanted to play another game? Was he out of his mind?
