Antonio glanced at her briefly before focusing back on the road. "You should know by now that gathering information is part of what I do, so I have my sources. But that's not the point. The point is, I know more than you think, and I haven't shared any of it with Ares... I know how he can be.  You can trust me, Martina."

Martina bit her lip, her mind racing. She wanted to believe him, but her trust had been shattered so many times before. "If you know so much, then you know why I'm angry. Except you are just making this up to make me spill."

Antonio took a deep breath, his grip on the steering wheel tightening slightly. "I am not making this up," he said, his voice steady but laced with urgency. "I know Sophie is your half-sister. I know your father is dead. And I know your stepmother is not dead but is actually in a psychiatric ward."
