Chapter 106. Rally the Wolves
“Where are we going?” She wonders aloud, watching the back of his head cautiously. They are walking down a dark passage, and her foot scruffs against something rough and hard. She howls a mute ‘ow’, frightened that she would attract Carter’s attention. She did not want to be seen as weak.
“I can smell your fear like a dead rat.” He hollers from the distance.
“Well, I don’t know, maybe it is because a strange man is taking me down a dark and dingy passageway, and I do not know where the hell we are going.” She retorts, wincing as she tries to keep up with his long strides.
“Relax, Lara. I just want to show you a bit of history. Didn’t you say you craved to be stripped of your ignorance?”
She can hear the smirk in his voice. Cocky bastard. She rolls her eyes and soon gets her answer when he takes a sharp turn to his left and halts in front of a ginormous oak door.
