Chapter 80. Dance
The round wall clock hanging directly opposite Lara dings, signaling the arrival of midnight. Yellow light floods the space from the sole light that remains on, the glass chandelier above.
Sitting on the dinning with a bottle of Campari and a glass cup on the table, Lara’s thoughts drift away. She begins to ponder on her life with Chris which appears to be happy on the surface but dissatisfactory within.
“Hey, babe…” His familiar voice pulls her out of her head. She turns to see him in his night wear, a blue, silky pajamas. His blonde hair is tattered and his chest is slightly revealed. He edges closer and pats her back slightly, the mild smell of his aftershave drifting into her nostrils.
“Are you okay,” He plants a peck on her cheek before taking a seat beside her.
“Yes… Of course, I am.” She lets out a sigh. “I’m just tired, I guess. I really needed this alone time.”
