“Ma’am, there is a package waiting for you outside,” A young ebony girl clad in a navy blue three-piece suit, and an orange beret wanders into Lara’s office with a warm smile on her face.
Lara raises her gaze from the file she has been studying for the past thirty minutes to the cheerful teenager and then back to the file.
“What is your name, girl?” Lara inquires with a calm but firm voice tone.
“My name is Grace, Ma’am.” Her smile seems unable to leave her face, her gap teeth apparent through it all, giving her a strangely innocent fitting with her coarse afro hair.
“Grace, it is common courtesy to knock on the door. You don’t just waltz into my office uninvited. Understood?”
“Forgive me, ma’am. I clearly understand.”
“Good. You are my new assistant, yes?”
She bows slightly, her excitement palpable. “Yes!”
