Scarlett’s POV
“Because I’ve been yelling for a while, and no one heard me. Just so you know, the food you were making got burnt, and it smells awful. Do you have perfume or air freshener here? Maybe.”
“The air freshener is in Olive’s room.”
“Don’t you have one?” he insisted.
“Yes, Louis, I have one, and I don’t want you to use it all, okay?” He nodded.
“Oh, yes! Here it is, look how lovely it is,” Louis showed me the bottle he had found and rushed to the kitchen.
I had completely forgotten that I was making toast. My mind had been everywhere except on the toast. I sent Olive a message to clean it up, she’s been very happy these days, and she’s generally comfortable hanging onto Louis’s arm. She even kisses him on the cheek in front of me. They’ve never kissed on the lips, I guess it’s something she still finds strange and insecure about. But that will change with time. I think we’ve all felt that way at some point in life—lost, not knowing
