Chapter 29. Answered Prayer
Upon returning home, we headed back to the room to continue our much-needed rest. I woke up earlier than expected, just before lunch, with the mission of preparing the food and gathering the necessary items for our visit to my mother's gravesite. I enlisted the assistance of Jamir in the preparations while Silas remained peacefully asleep, my plan being to wake him just before we departed.
As we worked side by side, Jamir cautiously ventured into personal territory. "I'm sorry for asking, Ma'am Isla, but the man upstairs, is he your husband?" he inquired, perhaps hoping to strike up a casual conversation.
I met his gaze and nodded, deciding to share a bit of my life with him. "It's alright, I don't mind. Yes, he's my husband," I confirmed. Eager to maintain the dialogue, I inquired further, "Do you have someone special in your life? Maybe one of the little girls we used to play with in the past?"
