Chapter 22
The car stopped at the port, Red opened the door, and she followed suit. Just as she took a few steps, Carolina stumbled over a pebble under her foot.
“Ah!” she exclaimed, her body losing balance and falling toward Red, who was walking ahead.
Red frowned, taking a step back. Unexpectedly, he displayed such a lack of courtesy, leaving her lying on the ground.
Carolina curled up on the floor, gripping her sore wrists, tears of agony in her eyes.
Red stepped forward, crouching before her and extending his hand, “Get up.”
Carolina raised her head, seeing nothing but disdain in his eyes.
“Hurry up, don’t waste my time,” he uttered impatiently.
Carolina grasped his hand, pulling herself up. As she rose, she accidentally stepped forward, causing him to grab her arm. His sudden movement intensified her pain. Could he despise her this much? Did he find her utterly repulsive? If that was the case, why not just let her go?
