Chapter 30

Carolina felt the stinging pain on her cheek from the slap. She touched her burning skin and looked up to see Shayna, filled with anger, standing before her.

“You wretch! Carlos wouldn’t be like this if you hadn’t shown up!” Shayna glared at Carolina.

“What happened to him?” Carolina didn’t understand.

“Do you ask so innocently? If it weren’t for your involvement with someone else, he wouldn’t be so heartbroken, and he wouldn’t neglect his work.”

Carolina also felt anger welling up inside. She pulled at her hair in frustration because of the slap she received earlier.

“No matter what happens between Carlos and me, you have no right to hit me.”
