We sped down the familiar roads towards my apartment in LA, close to Escapade, an elite club on Flower Street, near Downtown LA. It was my close friend Maddox Laurier’s flagship venture in LA and our popular meeting place. 

I had always felt a close connection to LA since the day I came here with my dad on a work trip. Meeting the gang had been a coincidence, but we bonded more over the years, and now, they were my only friends. I didn’t make friends easily, but these were an exception, apart from my childhood friend Zion Concorde. 

With women, it was completely need-based. I hardly spoke to them. It was therefore shocking that I melted so easily to Anacá and her smashing marriage proposal. 

No wonder I was suffering the after-effects. I should have known she treated me as a rebound. Her heart would always beat for the ass*ole, Josh Hemmingway. It irked me a lot, especially after seeing how his gifts adorned her aunt
