Book 3: Quitting
Anacá's POV
It was almost 11:30 p.m., and I had completed only half the work Eros had sent me. It looked like a lost case today. Fatigue and hunger took a toll on me, and I knew I couldn’t continue anymore. Eros was purposely playing this game with me. It was inhuman. The urge to quit and rest my tired body was immense.
“Miss, go home. I will lock up the office and leave at midnight. The night guards will be here to patrol around. It isn’t safe for you to stay back,” said the guard for the tenth time.
I sighed helplessly. If I went home, Eros would throw me out of the job. I needed the money so badly.
“Five more minutes, please.” I closed my eyes briefly as a wave of dizziness hit me hard. Suddenly, everything blacked out, and I grabbed onto my head.
“Miss, are you alright? Someone is waiting downstairs for almost two hours to take you home. Should I call him?”
