Chapter 60. Vulnerability and Intimacy

Caroline's POV

After going through all the chaos, Jackson and I headed back home feeling quite dissatisfied. However, the simple act of holding each other's hand brought some relief. As we entered the living room, something seemed off about Jackson. His expression changed, as if he were under the influence of some dark force.

His intense gaze fixated on my body, scanning me from head to toe, and I couldn't help but wonder what was wrong with him. "Jackson," I called out, but he seemed distant, lost in his world. "What's happening?" I asked, hoping for some answers. Jackson managed to sit down on the couch, but his body trembled a bit, leaving me terrified. "Can you please talk to me?" I mustered the strength to ask. Seeing Jackson behave like this was entirely new and it frightened me.

"It's the curse…" Jackson's voice faltered, and his words echoed in my ears as I tried to grasp their meaning.
