Adrian’s POV

Sean adjusted the gun to his taste and then removed the safety catch and I knew he was about to take the shot. He took the shot and I held my breath, expecting to fall any instance but I remained standing and wondered why. I opened my eyes to see alit of our spectators release the breath they had been holding. What had gone wrong, I wondered. I had been so sure, Sean would hit his mark. The silver bullet was lying on the floor.

“You failed,” I said matter-of-factly. “My turn!”

“No, I need to have another trial,” he said.

“No, the rule was that it was to be just one trial for each of us and you have had your chance. Now, it’s mine!” I repeated.

“That’s right!” all the people present said in agreement.

“We all heard the rules and it cannot be changed now!” Devin said.

I took the gun and pointed it at his head. He shut his eyes but later as he heard the safety catch, he went down on his knees.
