Alex
It was already the wee hours of the night when we arrived back at the apartment complex.
Chen parked the car nearby and turned off the ignition. He glanced at me before he let out an exasperated sigh while he was facing front and looking in the distance. “Alex, I’ve never done anything like this before.”
“What are we going to do now that we’ve already done it?”
“Tell me, are you afraid?” Chen turned his head to have a look at my face, though I only noticed it in my peripheral view.
I tried to avoid looking at his gaze, trying to organize my thoughts. “I don’t know. I’m feeling more uncertain whether this is going to work as you imagined, Chen.”
He appeared to have maintained his cool demeanor, even though I was well aware of the consequences that would befall us as soon as word got out about the nature of our relationship.
