I took Alex in my arms and closed my eyes, imagining the power and warmth of his body that I desperately miss. I couldn’t hold my calm any longer at that point.
Tears welled up in my eyes as I felt a hard and fast throb beneath my chest. I couldn’t tell if my tears were from love or hatred.
“Alex, why does it have to be you?” I muttered something under my breath while shaking my head, attempting to deny that this was Sam’s brother, the man I had been looking for to avenge her death.
Alex was the person who was most responsible for her death. For the first time, he taught me how to love.
Fury eventually overtook me and forced me to punch the mirror in front of me. My hands tensed and trembled.
Blood dripped from my palms onto the floor, and fragments dispersed beneath me.
I saw myself flushed – almost unrecognizable – through the leftover glass bits. My eyes were inflamed and tears were streaming down my face.
