Damien’s POV
I never thought the cornflakes guy was going to give me the audience to talk to Anita, but he had earlier on prompted me to have a one-on-one word with her while she was asleep the whole time.
And I had gone for it.
He seemed cool, and I was starting to like him. Hopefully, he doesn’t get in the way.
But Anita’s words kept ringing in my ears. “…Whatever feeling I had for you has risen with the sun, frozen and melted in ice.” Anita’s words were as cold as the snow in mid-December.
It wasn’t only cold; it was iced, and it pierced directly into my heart on a cold evening. I could feel myself shiver at her words as the cold breeze hit my skin.
She had forgiven me, but that part of her I really wanted to see badly was still hidden. That part of her finds it hard to be vulnerable again.
