Richard’s POV

When Anita asked me earlier why I didn’t attend breakfast, I told her that I needed enough rest.

Which clearly was a lie, and it hurt me to lie to her like that, but just to avoid questions and her worrying, I had to do what I had to do.

Her laugh earlier also made the guilt worse, because the last time we had such a good laugh for the longest was in New York when she opened up about kissing Damien in the elevator.

Good memories!

I slowly walked back to my room after brunch and gave Anita back her diary, which, in all honesty, I didn’t bother to open or read. We all had a good time, and I was happy I was back home, having my friend now as family.

Funny how it had been six solid years since I met her on the plane to Chicago.

I never knew she was a runaway bride.

I walked into my room feeling light and probably sleepy.

I picked up my phone from the dressing table and stood at the window, enjoying the scenery.
