Chapter 10
The door handle creaked, and Nathan stepped into the ward. The way they switched their attention towards the door as he walked in showed they had been anxiously waiting to hear what the doctor had said.
“What did she say to you?” Mr. Jones asked with anxiety cuddled up with tension written all over him.
“Nothing serious,” Nathan answered. She just said you need not work or overexert yourself,” he explained the doctor's statement.
“So I’m clear to go now?” Mr. Jones asked. He had always hated the smell of the hospital wards and everything related to it.
“No, that would be tomorrow,” Nathan was disappointed in his expectation.
Madison could see through Nathan's feigned smile. She knew all wasn’t well, but she didn’t bother asking him right there because she knew he was trying to keep it from everyone.
“Let’s get going, Maddie,” Nathan said unexpectedly.
“So soon?” Mr. Jones asked.
“Yes, a client just sent a mail I need to respond to.”
