If there was someone Lila needed to perfect her scheme, it was Jonathan. She didn’t just need to make Nathan the guilty one; she could also make Madison the guilty one. She was determined to see to it that Nathan had lost his inheritance.
Jonathan was sitting in one of the city’s prestigious restaurants, waiting for Lila to turn up. She invited him and picked the venue, and he definitely wondered why she chose an expensive venue. Probably they’ll just have water, and that’s all, he thought. He had to wait an additional thirty minutes to the first hour before Lila emerged from a car that pulled over right outside the restaurant.
“Hey!” She spotted him after walking in.
“Hi!” He waved at her, too.
“What’s that you cake with?” Jonathan asked her.
She gave him a weird look, “a car.”
“I know Lila,” he said. “I just want to know why you had to hire a car to come meet me, and why on earth did you choose this restaurant?”
