“Tell me something that doesn’t entail you working as a fed…” I grunt, even though I know, I’ll be happy if she does, nonetheless.

“Even better. I’m permanently linked to you, partner.” She throws the goofiest wink I’ve seen on a lady, forcing me to chuckle, despite the pain that attacks me on my ribs from the tremors of the laughter.

“The both of you would be great together.” Kate congratulates us, and they celebrate it with a hug.

“I’m going to get addicted to these sisterly hugs pretty quickly.” Scarlett giggles delightfully as she goes in for another hug shortly after she pulls out from the first.

Twenty days later, I report back to the office in favorable condition to resume work when I hear of the great wild goose chase that the EAD traitor had led the bureau on, and I can’t help but smile proudly at the outcome of that situation.
