Chapter 48
Scarlett’s POV
The lights flicker as we head down the dimly lit corridor. I say silent prayers as I wasn’t willing to be down here in the dark.
Gage moves in front of me with a torch and his heavy footsteps bounce around the walls. From time to time, he turns to me and I send him a nod of affirmation.
I’m okay.
He meets each nod with a subtle nod of his own and his attention is swept back to the journey ahead of us.
Since I joined the force, this has been the most stressful mission we’ve been assigned. First of all, a lot of things don’t seem right. How can we be chasing someone we don’t even have a clue about?
Miguel is more or less a ghost and his activities are the things that speak life of him. For all we know, he might not be a person, but an organization and we’re just heading blindly to our fate.
I can imagine the dr*g lord and his goons gathering around a wide table and laughing at our foolishness.
