Chapter 71
Scarlett’s POV
The adrenaline is thick in the air when Gage returns back to the room. He left to check out and I stayed behind to book us immediate flights to Los Angeles.
He hurriedly picks up the weapon bag and slings it across his shoulder in ease. The strain on his face is mild and misleading. I didn’t know better, I would have been tempted to pull off the same stunt with the weapon bag.
I roll out our suit cases and we load them up into the back seat of the car. Gage’s eyes dart expertly around, he scans rooftops, brushes and just about anywhere that a human could possibly be hiding.
“Next stop, airport.” Gage says as the car engine kicks to life and we pull out of the hotel’s parking lot.
Now, I know how crazy these guys can be. I mean, it’s the mafia. If their men can’t handle the chase, they will surely hire bounty hunters to do the chase for them. Trust me, bounty hunters are the last ops you want to go against.
