And the thing is that we can’t even celebrate Sterling’s birthday again. It’s today.

Am I a morning person? Some days I am, and some days I am most definitely not. And today, I am not.

“I’m coming in.” I hear Griffin’s voice as the door opens slowly.

He enters the room with a tray of food and it smells lovely. Wait, hold up. What is this man taking himself to be? My father?

“How did you sleep?” He asks as he walks towards me with the tray of food. He has changed and I think showered even.

He’s wearing a white shirt and blue men's shorts. His hair looks really good this morning and I somehow see that he looks fairly handsome. “Rose?” He asks and I remember that I have not responded to him yet.

“I slept okay,” I say lowly. “Do you have kids or grandkids?” I say to him out of the blue.

I want to know why he’s treating me like I’m family or something. Did he lose someone? Is this a way of him coping with a loss?
