Chapter 19
“I’m not meeting your mother, Robert,” I say as I try to stand. That’s when I noticed the bandage around my knee.
That was where the shrapnel was.
“Goodbye, Jen. See you at 6 pm.” He says Ashe walks away. When he reaches the door, he opens it and steps outside.
As he does this, I catch a small glimpse of one of his guards outside.
“He has guards that follow him around?” Chad asks with disbelief.
“Mmhmm,” I say.
“He’s a bit of a show-off,” I add, and Chad gives me a look.
“A bit? He is one hundred percent egocentric.” He says with a small scoff.
I am now standing on my feet, and a dull unsettling feeling sits in my knees. I also feel some pressure in my nose.
“You’re not seriously going to go to his dinner, are you?” Chad asks as he walks towards the kitchen.
I bet he’s going to raid my fridge, and he’s lucky I keep it packed.
