Chapter 19
Alessa woke up well on Monday and she felt better, maybe because of Elijah’s ‘apology’ last night. Her smile was broad as she left the room and was still singing softly while making hot tea.
“Wow! My pretty daughter looks good awake, ah!” her father said as she sipped her coffee.
Alessa turned to her and smiled and laughed. “I’m always good when I’m awake, dad,” she said. She even stirred the drink before sitting in the empty chair.
Alessa’s father nodded as if he had just agreed while she was still there with a smile on her lips. “Well! That’s right. Why don’t you accompany your mom to the market? There’s a lot to buy because your Aunt Sheila has relatives coming home.”
“Really? Is mom there yet? I’ll just get dressed and then I’ll go with her,” she said, then quickly changed her clothes. When she got out of the kitchen again, her father was gone, but Elijah was there. “Oh!” she said, then she was about to turn back, but she heard his voice.
“Morning,”
