It seemed that Alessa was losing her patience with their remarks. It appeared that they thought her task was easy, which annoyed her. She ascended the stairs to the second floor, growling even more when she heard their laughter echoing from downstairs.
“They’re all in it together! They can handle that man. If he scolds me, it’s their problem!” she muttered to herself.
Elijah’s room was located at the end of the hallway, the last door on the right. It had been a long time since her last visit there, back when they were still close.
Alessa took a deep breath as she stood in front of the door. She tightly held the tray and blew out air several times. The trembling in her chest was intense, and her heart felt like it was about to burst.
“Whoa!” she exclaimed. “You can do it, Alessa!” With one hand holding the tray, she knocked and turned the doorknob.
