Chapter 9. Denial of Each Other's Feelings

Mika went to her office with Alex. She kept herself busy to avoid thinking about Sam and Mary again. She knew that if she kept thinking about them, she would hurt herself in a way that she couldn’t handle.

It was lunchtime, and Alex and Mika went to a restaurant together, but her mind was somewhere else.

“Is there anything wrong with your food, Mika?” Alex asked her as he noticed her staring at her food like she didn’t like it at all.

“Uh, no. It’s fine.” She had a smile on the corner of her lips as she continued to eat her lunch.

Time passed by. It was already dark outside the huge window inside Mika’s office. She turned her swivel chair, facing the night city that could be seen through her window. She heard a knock on the door, which caught her attention; it was Alex.

“I’m going to my mom’s parents. Wanna come?”

“No. I will just stay at the house,” she answered,
