She rocked unsteadily on her feet as she walked out of his office an hour later. She had no idea how she had survived there. She sighed gravely as she slumped into her seat. She was drained. It had been a huge tug-of-war between her brain and her heart. She had stared at him all through the meeting, only breaking her stares once in a while to avoid being creepy. The last thing she wanted was to be sacked a day after getting the job because the CEO was unsettled by her.
Her heart wanted her to jump at him and show him who she truly was. She wanted to remind him of the memories they had shared together and force him to remember her. Her brain yelled at her to let him go and painfully reminded her that he was engaged. It seemed that everyone had moved on, and she was the only one left with misery. Her heart lurched with pain as she imagined Tristan with another woman after all the promises they had made to each other.
