Chapter 4

Kaytly returned to her office, feeling extreme anger, still embarrassed by the recent incident. Remembering how Adam had intimately held her, she felt nausea rising. She looked down at her short dress, feeling humiliated by the situation. Who would have thought she would end up in such a sorry state? Maybe she should call Xavia and ask her to come and rescue her!

Adam sat at his office absentmindedly, Bonita discreetly stealing glances at his handsome face. She seethed with envy toward Kaytly. As if suddenly struck by an idea, Adam stood up, and his gaze swept over to Bonita, observing her from top to bottom.

Bonita caught his gaze and quickly concealed her animosity, replacing it with an innocent and charming expression.

“Sir, why are you looking at me like that? You’re making me blush!”

“Bonita, can you do me a favor?” Adam redirected his attention, checking his watch.

“Sure, what is it?”

“Let’s go shopping for clothes!” Adam said, taking out his car keys and ignoring Bonita’s puzzled expression as he hurriedly left the office.

Adam led Bonita straight to the women’s clothing section on the third floor at a department store.

“Weren’t you planning to buy clothes for yourself, sir? Why are we looking at women’s clothes?” Bonita asked, confused.

“Let’s just take a look. What kind of styles do ordinary girls like? Can you help me choose?” Adam replied.

Bonita couldn’t help but feel pleased. What if Adam was planning to buy her clothes as a gift?

“Sir? Are you picking something for the woman you like?” Bonita asked with a playful tone.

“That’s none of your business. Just pick what you like. Let’s be quick!” Adam replied coldly, wholly immersed in his thoughts

“How about this one?” Not long after, Bonita appeared wearing a short pink dress resembling a blooming hibiscus flower.

Adam observed the dress, paying no attention to Bonita’s excitement.

“Yes, it’s beautiful! I’ll take this one!” Adam nodded in satisfaction.

Bonita felt like a delighted bird. She quickly returned to the fitting room.

“I’ll have this dress but in a different color. That shade of blue, wrap it up!” Adam took out a gold card and handed it to the salesperson.

“Of course!” The salesperson smiled as she accepted the card.

Seeing Bonita return from the fitting room, Adam said, “Bonita, do you need anything else?”

“No, I’m good. Thank you, sir!” Bonita responded cheerfully, secretly hoping they could share a meal.

“Great! Bonita, I have some work to attend to at the company. I’ll call the driver to pick us up. You two can head back first!” Adam took the bag of clothes from Bonita and patted her shoulder before quickly leaving.

Hearing his words, Bonita noticed that his bag was identical to hers. She finally understood — Adam wanted to return to the company for a reason!

She felt determination filling her, and her eyes, once innocent and charming, now bore a chilling and calculating glint.

As Adam made his way through the crowd in the lobby of the office building, he couldn’t shake off the feeling of being watched. Holding a bag of women’s clothes, he surely drew lots of attention from his employees.

Adam avoided the gaze of onlookers and entered a private elevator with the bag of clothes in hand. He arrived at Kaytly’s office and was about to knock on the door when he overheard her frustrated voice through the door.

“What? Xavia, I’ve been waiting for you for a while, and you still haven’t come. And now you’re telling me you can’t make it? Are you kidding me? What am I supposed to do now?”

“Kaytly, I’m sorry, but right now, I… uh… Yeah, I really can’t make it. I’m so sorry. Can you see if someone else can help you?” Xavia’s voice on the other end of the phone sounded hesitant, but Kaytly was too consumed by anxiety to notice.

“Are you kidding me?! If you don’t come to save me, I’m dead, alright?! Xavia, I beg you, please do come! If you don’t want to pick up my dead body tomorrow!”

Without waiting for a response from the other end, Kaytly abruptly hung up the phone with a thud.

“Shit! What should I do now? Xavia must be really busy. If not, she wouldn’t have ditched me like this. How am I supposed to get back?” Kaytly muttered, walking across her office and panicking.

Kaytly looked down at her chest again, feeling frustration and anger. She placed her face in her hands, utterly embarrassed by the situation.

Standing in front of her office, Adam couldn’t help but chuckle at the sight of the tightly shut door. Who would have thought this seemingly cold and aloof woman would have such a cute side? He glanced at the bag in his hand and grinned, then raised his hand to knock on the door.

“Who is it?” Upon hearing the knock, Kaytly immediately sat up and hastily covered her chest, anxiously asking.

“It’s me, Adam!”

Feeling Kaytly’s urgency, his typically sharp features softened into a gentle smile.

“Mr. Kenneth, it’s the end of working hours. I have some personal matters to attend to. Could we discuss this tomorrow?” Kaytly looked at the tightly closed door, mentally cursing in frustration.

“This arrogant man! He knows perfectly well that I’m in this embarrassing state, yet he still came looking for me. Audacity!” she grumbled in her thoughts.

“Kaytly, this matter is fundamental and closely related to you. If we don’t discuss it right now, you might regret staying behind!” Adam’s voice sounded stern as he explained, struggling to suppress his laughter.

“This woman, if her good friend can’t make it, is she planning to stay in this room forever?” he wondered.

Kaytly heard Adam’s severe tone and couldn’t find a reason to refuse. After hesitating for a moment, she reluctantly looked away from the door.

After waiting for a while outside the door, Adam, who was about to knock on the door again, saw the door open from inside.

Before him, Kaytly held a large pile of documents to her chest, her expression impatient as she stood by the door. Seeing this, Adam could no longer hold back his laughter.
