Chapter 8. The Alpha
The closer they got to the campsite the thicker the scent of blood grew until they were almost choking on it.
Both girls remained silent, too frightened to voice their thoughts on what the scent could mean and not wanting to draw attention to themselves.
They came to a stop at the edge of the tree line and took in the sight before them in silent horror.
The place was a mess with torn-up tents, smashed equipment and some of the cars had dents and scratches on the surface. Blood covered every inch of the space and Carla could sight the disembodied hand of one of their friends.
"Do you think anyone made it out alive?" Whispered Aria as they walked into the clearing, assessing the damage.
"I don't see any bodies so maybe they're still alive," she responded, refusing to acknowledge the bloody hand.
"What do we do?"
