I have never cared for King Matthias of Red River. We first met when he visited Crimson Peak soon after Kane’s coronation. He’d recently been married, and the couple were already being unfaithful to one another. I found this out when I came back to my suite to find King Matthias’s wife waiting for me, naked, in my bed.

I’d been young and reckless, seeing no need to deny sleeping with a willing body, especially since she was beautiful. It should have been a forgettable fling–a night I can barely remember–but the young queen decided to rub it in her husband’s face to make him jealous. I almost ended up in a duel with King Matthias after I told him his wife wasn’t even a good lay.
