I’m not expecting Coit to show up at Castle Graystone. It’s early in the morning, and I’ve just finished getting ready when he barges into my suite, followed by the castle guards. He looks furious, his eyes like emerald fire. I gesture toward the castle guards that everything is fine, and they can leave us alone.

The guards leave quickly. Nellie glances at me worriedly before following the guards out of the room.

“Coit?” I say. “Is everything okay–”

He cuts me off, “Could you tell me why I had to find out from George Nightstone that you’ve found Lydia, and you didn’t tell me?”

“I tried to call you, but no one answered,” I reply. “Willow’s niece, Ivy, cast a locator spell, and Rainer is on the way to find Lydia as we speak.”
