Chapter 118. Time to Act

Kane informs me that the Blood Takers will be in Rouge Curve by tomorrow, according to his sources. I have no time to spare as I have to make my way from Crimson Peak to Red River within the day. I don’t take any personal items with me that can point to my real identity. I pack a small bag of clothes, a supply of blood, and a few weapons that I can conceal on my person.

Willow watches me from the doorway of our bedroom, her expression concerned.

Trying to lighten the mood, I quip, “How does Ivy feel about marrying a shifter? George Nightstone seems sweet on her.”

“Ivy doesn’t really care for shifters,” Willow replies. “She thinks George Nightstone is annoying.”

“Stranger pairings have happened. Look at Emory and Kane.”

“Emory and Kane are mates. From what she’s told me, George would know almost immediately that Ivy is his mate. Since she’s not, he’d just be wasting his time with her until he finds his real mate.”
